Remembering our friend B. Charles “Chuck” Bird (November 11, 1957 – November 12, 2006) who died after a 30 year battle with diabetes in Nashville.

I’ve added a new field recording.  13 minutes and 50 seconds of the sounds of my neighborhood as recorded off my back deck on Beggar’s Night, October 31, 2009, in Iowa City, IA.  128kb-encoded MP3.  12.6MB.

The recording is in mono due to the back microphone on my Zoom H2 being on and capturing too much of the ambient noise of I-80 a couple miles to the north.  I had to do some normalizing/boosting in order to bring the sound up.

Lala.com is now streaming all four albums by Mark Rushton along with the two albums by Mark Rushton and Jon Harnish.  Soon they’ll be streaming the new Ambient Matyk album.

I’m impressed with Lala.com’s transformation from CD trading scheme, their original business, into a digital music retailer.  The interface is very easy to use.
